When do I need a 10G switch?

When the links into it are already gigabit and full: a core fed by several floors, a server rack, a storage array, a camera estate at 8 megapixels. Ten gigabit at the edge is rarely needed; ten gigabit between switches usually is. Choose by the port type, SFP+ for fibre and direct attach, 10GBASE-T for Cat 6A copper.
