10 Gigabit Ethernet.

Also written 10GbE, 10G, 10GBASE-T.

What cabling does 10 Gigabit Ethernet need?

10 Gigabit Ethernet carries ten times the traffic of ordinary gigabit over the same twisted pair layout. Over copper, IEEE 802.3 rates 10GBASE-T for a full 100 metres on Cat 6A but only roughly 37 to 55 metres on Cat 6, depending on alien crosstalk. Cable new runs in Cat 6A, or use fibre with transceivers between switches.

Defined by IEEE 802.3, whose 10GBASE-T clause sets the 100 metre reach on Cat 6A, published by IEEE.
