How we check this, and what we got wrong.

Where the specifications come from

Every product page takes its specification from the manufacturer's own published document, and the technical sheet link on that page goes to that document rather than to a summary of it. Where a manufacturer publishes a document for a range rather than a part, the page says so instead of calling it a page about that part.

Where no document could be found, the page asks you to ring us rather than offering a search that returns nothing. We measured eleven manufacturers' site searches and found they return nothing for our part codes; none of them is offered as a link.

Where the answers in Material, explained come from

Each answer is drafted from the published standard named at the foot of it, and the standard is named so that the answer can be checked rather than trusted. They cover material this catalogue actually stocks; a term with nothing behind it does not get a page.

They are drafted by Data Systems from those standards. They are not signed off by a named engineer, and until they are, the file that holds them records that plainly. When somebody signs one, the page will say who.

What we got wrong, and corrected

On 11 August 2026 we checked every figure in those answers against a reference source. Three were corrected the same day. The Cat 5e answer said 10 Gigabit Ethernet will not run over it, which is too absolute: it is not specified over Cat 5e, and the standard calls for Cat 6 or better. The single-mode answer cited ISO/IEC 11801 for the OS2 designation, which is contested, so it now cites ITU-T G.652.D alone. The LSZH answer said most data centre and hospital specifications require it, softened to commonly, because that is a claim about market practice and nothing we did measured it.

Corrections are made in the file the pages are generated from, so a page cannot disagree with the record.

What we do not publish

No prices, because they depend on quantity and the day. No stock levels, because a catalogue is not a live feed and printing a number that is wrong by the afternoon is worse than printing none. No review stars, because nobody has left any, and structured data claiming otherwise is a lie a search engine can read.

Some product images were created with AI where no photograph could be obtained. Those are labelled as illustrative on the product sheet itself, and the part code decides what ships.
