How do I choose a sensor cordset?

Four choices, in order: the thread, M8 for compact sensors and M12 for most of a plant; the coding, A-coded for sensor signals, D-coded for 100 megabit Ethernet, X-coded for gigabit; the pin count the device names; and the run, a pigtail to a terminal or a double-ended cordset between two connectors. Straight or angled heads follow the space at the device.
