How deep a rack do I need?
Rack depth is the front to back measurement of a cabinet, chosen separately from its height and width. Floor standing cabinets commonly come 800 or 1000 millimetres deep; a full-depth server with its plugs and leads needs the 1000, while switches and patch panels fit easily in less. Measure the deepest device, then allow room behind it for power leads and cable bend.
