Loose tube and tight buffer.

What is the difference between loose tube and tight buffer cable?

A loose tube cable lets its fibres float inside small gel or dry filled tubes, isolated from the jacket. A tight buffer cable coats each fibre to 900 microns so it can be terminated directly. The tubes shrug off pulling and temperature swings, so loose tube goes outdoors and underground. Tight buffer stays indoors and in risers.
