Armoured cable.

Also written Armored cable, Rodent-proof cable, Corrugated steel tape armour.

What is armoured cable and where is it needed?

Armoured cable carries a layer of corrugated steel tape or a rigid dielectric under the jacket, so it survives crushing, pulling and rodents where an ordinary jacket would not. It is specified for direct burial, duct runs, plant floors and any route that is not inside conduit. Metallic armour has to be bonded and earthed at entry; dielectric armour does not.

Defined by ANSI/TIA-568.3-D and IEC 60794 for the optical constructions, with the bonding requirement following ANSI/TIA-607-D, published by IEC and TIA.
