9 pin D-sub connectors.

Also written DB9, DE-9 connector, RS-232 connector.

What is a DB9 connector used for?

The 9 pin D-sub, properly DE-9 and universally called DB9, is the serial port connector of RS-232 and RS-485, and it still appears on PLCs, instruments, barcode readers and console ports. It comes male and female, in crimp, solder and IDC terminations, and with a hood to clamp the cable. Order the gender opposite to the port, and check the pinout the equipment expects.
