IDC connectors.

Also written ribbon cable connector, insulation displacement connector, IDC D-sub.

What is an IDC connector?

A connector that terminates a whole ribbon cable in one press: the contacts have slots that cut through each conductor's insulation as the cover closes, so twenty five or fifty wires are connected in seconds without stripping or solder. It is how ribbon cable meets a D-sub or a board header inside equipment. It needs flat cable of the matching pitch and a press, not a crimp tool.

Defined by IEC 60352-4, which covers solderless insulation displacement connections, published by IEC.
