LC or SC?
LC or SC: which fibre connector should I order?
LC for anything plugging into a modern switch or transceiver, SC where the older equipment or the frame demands it. LC has a 1.25 millimetre ferrule against SC's 2.5, so it fits twice as many ports on the same panel, which is why the equipment moved to it. SC is larger, latches with a push and a pull, and is easier to handle in a cramped or badly lit riser.
Both are defined by IEC 61754-20 and IEC 61754-4.
