What is Wi-Fi 6?

Wi-Fi 6 is the plain name for IEEE 802.11ax, the wireless standard built for many devices at once rather than one fast laptop. Its gains come from scheduling: an access point serves dozens of small transmissions in one slot of airtime, which shows best in full offices and classrooms. Wi-Fi 6E is the same standard with the 6 GHz band added, for 6E clients only.

Defined by IEEE 802.11ax, published by IEEE.
