UTP.

Also written Unshielded Twisted Pair, U/UTP.

What is UTP cable?

UTP is unshielded twisted-pair cable: the pairs are twisted to reject interference but carry no metallic screen. It is smaller, cheaper and quicker to terminate than shielded cable, and it needs no bonding path back to earth. It is the normal choice for offices and any environment without heavy electrical noise nearby.

Defined by ISO/IEC 11801 cable construction codes, published by IEC.
