What is a keyed LC connector?

A keyed LC connector carries a small colour coded key that mates only with an adapter of the same colour, so a cord cannot be plugged into the wrong port on a panel serving several networks. It is how a data hall keeps a customer's fibre, a management network and a storage network physically apart on one row. The optics are ordinary LC.
