What do OLT, ONU and ONT mean in fibre to the home?
The three ends of a passive optical network. The OLT sits at the operator's end and feeds one fibre to a splitter; the splitter divides it, without power, to up to sixty four homes; the ONU or ONT is the small box in each home that turns the light back into Ethernet and Wi-Fi. GPON is the standard that carries 2.5 gigabits down that shared fibre.
Defined by ITU-T G.984, the GPON recommendation series, with the PLC splitter loss figures from every splitter datasheet, published by ITU.
