What is a duplex fibre patch cord?
A duplex cord carries two fibres side by side, one transmitting and one receiving, which is what an ordinary optical transceiver needs. The two connectors are keyed as a pair so they cannot be crossed by accident. Duplex is the default for a switch or server link; simplex is used where a single fibre carries both directions.
Defined by ISO/IEC 11801 patch cord construction, published by IEC.
