What is a 110 wiring block for?
A 110 wiring block is the punch-down field used to terminate large counts of pairs, most often voice, where a patch panel of RJ45 sockets would be the wrong shape. Cable pairs are punched onto the block's index strips and cross-connected with jumper wire or 110 patch cords. It is how a telephone room and a 100 pair riser cable are managed.
Defined by ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, which covers 110 style connecting hardware, published by TIA.
