Do I need a router or a firewall at the edge of the network?
A router moves traffic between your network and the internet; a firewall does the same while inspecting that traffic against security rules. A modern firewall routes as well, so most offices run one box, not two. Small sites can lean on the router built into the fibre modem; anywhere holding customer data or many users should put a firewall at the edge.
