NVR.

Also written Network video recorder.

What is an NVR?

An NVR is a network video recorder: the appliance that receives, stores and plays back footage from IP cameras over the network. It is sized by two numbers together, how many camera channels it accepts and how much retention its drives give at your resolution. Many models power their cameras directly from PoE ports, which makes the recorder most of the system in one box.

Defined by ONVIF Profile S, the interoperability profile that lets recorders and cameras mix brands, published by ONVIF.
