What does pixel pitch mean on an LED display?

The distance between one LED and the next, in millimetres, and it sets how close a viewer can stand before the picture breaks into dots. A rough rule is one metre of viewing distance per millimetre of pitch: a 2.5 millimetre wall reads cleanly from about two and a half metres, a 10 millimetre outdoor board from ten. Buy the pitch for the nearest viewer, not the largest screen.
